2010-11 REGISTRATION INFORMATION,

HANDBOOK and VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Dear Members of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church:

It’s time to think ahead to next year’s faith formation programs and plan to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities that are offered to the young people of our parish.

WHAT’S NEW FOR REGISTRATION THIS YEAR:

V REGISTRATION DEADLINE: AUGUST 31, 2010 -- no registrations will be accepted after this date, therefore late fees have been eliminated.

V EARLY REGISTRATION INCENTIVE: All registrations received before July 1 will be entered into a drawing from which the names of three families will be drawn. These families will receive FREE FAITH FORMATION REGISTRATION FEES FOR 2010-11!

WHAT HASN’T CHANGED?

V Fees will remain the same as last year. Even with the cost of the new books for grades 7-8 and the program materials for grades 9-10, we have been able to keep our expenses low.

V Registrations will be accepted at the final faith formation session of the year, and throughout the summer. Checks will be held for deposit until July 1 (the new fiscal year).

The Faith Formation Committee and I have been working to optimize the registration process in order to help us prepare more efficiently for faith formation programs in the fall. This is why we are asking families to please respect the registration deadline. This deadline ensures that we will have the needed time to form class lists and get scheduling letters to families in early September, arrange for the proper number of catechists and hold their in-service, prepare for needed space, and have all books and materials on hand before the first class in early October.

Please read the attached Faith Formation Handbook carefully to familiarize yourself with the details of our policies and registration deadlines for the upcoming year. All families participating in the program are asked to sign the acknowledgement on the back of the registration form stating that you have read and understand the Handbook. Parents are expected to volunteer in at least one area during the faith formation year. Opportunities are listed on the back of the enclosed registration form—please carefully and prayerfully consider how you will help our program succeed.

We have set a tentative schedule for next year. It is:

Session I, K-6: Oct. 2, Nov. 6, Dec. 4, Jan. 8, Feb. 5, Mar. 5, Apr. 2

Sunday Session, 7-10: Oct. 3, Nov. 7, Dec. 5, Jan. 9, Feb. 6, Mar. 6, Apr. 3

Session II, K-6: Oct. 9, Nov. 13, Dec. 11, Jan. 15, Feb. 12, Mar. 19, Apr. 9

Times for sessions will remain the same: K-6, 9:00 am – 12:30 pm

7-10, 1:00 – 4:30 pm

Individual family schedules will be mailed in early September, after registration has closed.

We are excited that the opportunities for the youth of our parish continue to evolve and increase with the implementation of new materials for grades 7-10, and the addition of youth ministry in our parish.
